This website and it's message is about that opportunity.  It is an opportunity that comes along rarely in a lifetime.

You can change a life.

Longtime Branford resident and local music legend Rick Barker, husband of Lynda Barker, father of Devyn and Darren and owner of his own landscaping business, has a viral infection of his liver.  He has undergone traditional treatment, always hoping that some prescribed method would offer a cure. Despite the difficulties that the regimen of medications has brought him, Rick never has lost his kindness, his sense of humor, or his hope.
Hope is where you come in.

Since the other approaches have not returned him to full health, Rick now finds himself in need of a living donor liver transplantation.  This technique allows a matched living person to donate a portion of his or her liver to Rick, and that segment regenerates for the donor, while Rick thrives on the donated portion.

Your ability to change a life comes in many shapes and sizes.  Could you be the donor we are looking for?  Could you actually recreate yourself in another person, resulting in him living and growing and singing and loving?  Do you want to find out if you can live a life of extraordinary significance?
To examine the opportunity to serve as a donor, read the "Living Donor" column on the right for more information.

Perhaps this type of donation isn't for you...and we understand.  But that doesn't shut the door on your opportunity to change a life.  This procedure is expensive, and while health insurance covers the cost of the surgery for both the donor and receipient there are other expenses involved. Rick and his family need your financial support as well. Donations are always welcomed...and fund-raisers are planned where we would love to you see you and your friends and family.

To examine the opportunity to make a financial donation, volunteer, or attend one of our fundraisers, click on the "You Can Still Help" tab.
So the question remains:  have you ever wondered if you would have an opportunity to change?  Have you ever wondered  -- when all else has failed -- how it would feel to help a man see his grandchildren, watch another sunset, or write another song?  This is that chance.  Your chance.
We think the answer is yes...that you want that opportunity.  The opportunity to live a life of significance by helping to save a life of significance.  Please join us as we seize this moment and change a life.
